PCBN Inserts – Machining Hardened Steel, Irons and Superalloys

PCBN (polycrystalline cubic boron nitride) is a polycrystalline layer of cubic boron nitride crystals bonded to a tungsten carbide substrate. PCBN tooling enables you to machine ferrous materials such as hardened steels, grey, cast or sintered iron and superalloys.

At Eurogrind, we can cut discs of PCBN materials to any shape you need using our state of the art CNC EDM wire cutting machine. They are then induction brazed onto steel or carbide blanks before being finished to the specified size on our top of the range automated Swiss machines.

This bespoke process provides excellent edge conditions and high surface finishes on your components. Standard or custom lands are applied to the cutting edge to specifically suit the application and workpiece material. In addition, to keep your PCBN cutting tools in the best possible condition, Eurogrind also offers a quick turnaround, relapping and retipping service for used tooling.

As a provider of fully bespoke systems, Eurogrind will work to your specifications. If you already have a design, we can manufacture to it. If not, our in house design engineers will work with you to create the design you need.
